Raw Vegan Chocolate Truffles

Chocolate.  What could be better than chocolate?  Wait, I know!  Running!  But I prefer to have them both.

The other day I went to Costco and saw these two delicious fruits (dried, of course):

  • Made in Nature Organic Dates
  • Happy Village Organic Figs

I immediately thought of making raw ginger bars (recipe to come later) so I bought them.

I woke up the other day and opened the pantry to figure out what to make for breakfast and saw these three things grouped together.  It was magical.

Organic Dates, Figs, Cacao Powder

Are they beautiful or what?!

I purchase the cacao powder at my local PCC Natural Market (think raw chocolate mousse, or vegan chocolate tapioca pudding).

So after breakfast, I searched for a raw and vegan recipe to put these babies to use.  I found a Chocolate Fig Truffles recipe on Food Doodles.  Heidi really nailed it with this recipe.  I didn’t think about changing anything but I did.

Chocolate Truffles

I added other spices per the request of my family:

  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cloves
  • 1 tablespoon of pumpkin spice
  • I also increased the amount of chocolate – well, of course!

I love chocolate.  It’s kinda funny that my coworkers know I always have chocolate so they come to my office to ask for some.  I don’t share with just anyone.  Some people are extra special.  The others are just special ♥

Raw Vegan Chocolate Truffles

My stomach has not been feeling too well the last couple of days so I didn’t actually try these.  But the rest of the family did and kept on coming back for more.

I enjoyed making these little truffles.  They are vegan, raw, and delicious.  Since they have natural ingredients, I think you can eat them as snacks and not just as a treat 😉

Cheers for chocolate and a sweet life!
