Happy New Year Everyone!
A new year means different things for different people. For me, it means an opportunity to start writing (figuratively) a new book; it means to do a self-assessment; to start over; it means new beginnings.
On the last day of 2016 we got a nice little dusting of snow. Not much but enough to barely cover the roads and to freeze the water fountain along the trail.
I woke up this morning and immediately got ready to go on my first run of 2017. I wanted to break in my brand new Brooks Launch 3 Running Shoes and do I love these shoes!! They are very comfortable and provide great cushion and my toes kept warm while still being able to breath.
The training has begun!
I have searched for a good half marathon training plan for full time working parents (of teenagers with a schedule of their own) only to find plans that are very much unrealistic for me. So in order for me to have a good race and get a personal record (PR) I am going to have to combine a few training plans and modify them to fit our busy schedules.
I have a couple of half marathons that I have signed up for 2017 and I’m really looking forward to them, specially the Whidbey Half since it includes a trip to Whidbey Island and a majestic scenery (so I hear).
We have a lot of plans for 2017 (not resolutions!) and I have to figure out how to squeeze in time to train for those races. It will be challenging but I will make every attempt to make it happen.
My training plan is not set in stone and will definitely be modified as needed. Running is fun and relaxing for me and I am not going to drive myself nuts if I miss a training day. Life happens and I will take it one day at a time.
Hope the new year brings you happiness, peace and love (and if you like running… I wish you injury-free training!).
Thanks for stopping by!
